Tomorrow is Ganesh Chaturthi and if you are planning to welcome Lord Ganesh to your house this year and wondering what should be the prasad, you can make this yummy and easy to make Besan Halwa. Check out this simple Besan Halwa Recipe and get ready to greet Lord Ganesha with a delicisou prasad.

People make Besan Halwa with a recipe similar to the aata halwa but my recipe is bit different. I made it using Gur and Khopra and it turned out to be the best Halwa I ever had.

  • 1 cup besan
  • 3/4 cup ghee
  • 1 cup grated jaggery (gur)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds (khaskhas)
  • 1/2 cup dried coconut powder

Besan Halwa Recipe

  • Take a heavy based pan and add poppy seeds (khaskhas), grated coconut powder and grated jaggery(gur).
  • Keep the flame slow as the coconut powder has a tendency to burn quickly.
  • Cook it for around 5 minutes till all three ingredients are mixed well. Turn off the gas and keep it aside.
  • Heat milk in a pan. Stir in cardamom powder. Set aside.
  • Now take another pan and add ghee to it.
  • Add besan and roast it for around 8 minutes till you get the sweet aroma of roasted besan.
  • Now add milk we kept aside and mix it well.
  • Add the jaggery and coconut thing we made and mix well.
  • Cover the pan and let it cook on slow flame for around 5 minutes till the halwa pulls away of pan and you see ghee in the pan.
  • Garnish it with almonds and the Ganesh Chaturthi Prasad is ready for bappa.
